Domon Ken and Ihei Kimura Prize Winners

The Asadas, by Masashi Asada This March both of the major Japan photo awards, the Domon Ken and Ihei Kimura Awards, were announced. The awards have slightly different focuses, with the Domon Ken prize usually going to older photographers with a large body of work already to their name, while the Ihei Kimura prize tends to reward photographers who show exceptionally bright promise. Yumi Himezaki took this year’s Domon Ken prize, while Masashi Sada picked up the 2008 Ihei Kimura Award.

(The Wikipedia entries for both awards (here and here) give the rundown on who in the past has been awarded (although both English pages have yet to be updated with the most recent winners). )
