At one of the many Kashiwa pools. The pools with many rules. I was busted for not swimming a lane end to end and sitting on the pool rim during the hourly “floater inspection” (for those outside of Japan: every hour for 10 minutes everybody has to leave the pool, the lifeguards will then busily scan the pool for… not sure what. On the other hand there was news yesterday that 14 people countrywide have died in swimming pools or lakes, quite a high number, No wonder they need this baby-sitting).
I have to add that photography is also not allowed, but I sneaked that one in.
One thing they never mention in Japan is whether or not the accident/death was alcohol related or not. Probably because it usually goes without saying.
It is like people leave there brains and common sense with the car keys and mobile on the towel.
YOu should go to the beaches in the summer and take photos of all of the pedophiles who walk up and down the beach taking photos of little girls and boys in their bathing suits. The numbers of offenders will astound you. They do not even dress like they are at the beach to have fun. I guess as an outsider they seem to stick out I do not know why no one else notices them, unless maybe if they ignore them they will go away and so will the problem….ahhh all solved
I am sure that is the reason.
Interesting you say that about the alcohol, I asked Naomi the same thing.
I often get the impression that many Japanese are so used that everything around them is taken care of and organised around them (which to a great extent is true), that they forget all the risks, including the one that only the individual himself can solve. Swimming in a swimming pool would be such an activity.
