Oriental Seagull is a well-known and high quality black & white printing paper made in Japan, that has been available for many years. We have updated our selection with the addition of Oriental New Seagull VC-FB paper. This double weight paper is fibre-based, variable contrast and has a smooth/glossy surface. We have added three different paper sizes, but please feel free to ask for other sizes. At this point shipping rates are estimates only and you will be refunded any difference.
The slow summer seems to be over and I am pleased to see new orders are coming in steadily. Unlike the hot summer, autumn is a great season to go out and shoot and I tend to do the same myself. Enjoy!
June was a record-breaking month for the web shop. Thanks to everyone who ordered and gave their comments. July is very slow, so I suppose all of you are on holiday and snapping away.
Enjoy the summer everybody!
I will be travelling myself from end of July and the first week of August, so expect a slight delay when placing your order.
The end of a long and good relationship is always painful. Velvia 50 (RVP 50) has now officially reached its end of life and is replaced worldwide by Velvia 100 and 100F. For those who would like to extend it a little more we have added Velvia 50 in all formats to the selection. There is no further manufacturing, expect sudden unavailability when stocks have finally depleted.
After experiencing a series of low value orders, I felt I needed to introduce a low order fee of Y500 for orders under Y2000. Low value orders are extremely cost-inefficient to process and a low order fee will allow to keep the price of low-value products unchanged. The Shipping & Returns page was updated accordingly.
Due to unforeseen and foreseen family circumstances, there will be a slowdown of turnaround effective immediately until the middle of May. Existing orders are unaffected. Thank you for your understanding.
UPDATE May 3rd: all paid pending orders have been sent out yesterday. I am on the way to business as usual, but need just a little more time. Also we have a week of public national holidays in Japan where many shops and post offices are closed, so please bear with me a little while longer.
The stocks of Fortia transparency film released as a limited edition last July have finally run out, but fear not: there is a follower. Fortia SP is an improved version of Fortia, and this time even available in 120 roll film format. However, a limited edition run it shall remain, as again only 40.000 packs of 35mm and 30.000 packs of 120 will be made.
Konica IR 750 film is no longer with us. On a recent order we had to inform the customer that one of the best-selling films, the Konica infra-red emulsion, is no longer available. While production was phased out back in 2004, stocks were still available up until February this year, but have finally depleted for good.
Meanwhile on popular demand we added an extensive set of Fuji instant peel-apart type film in pack format. Check out this impressive range of instant film with a wide choice in speeds and finish.
Lastly, Fuji released a black version of the Fuji Natura S camera.
