The "Visions of Japan" was a series of monographs featuring leading contemporary photographers, Nobuyoshi Araki, Shomei Tomatsu, Toshio Shibata, Daido Moriyama, Yoshihiko Ueda, and Kou Inose. There were apparently two versions of each issued, one with white covers for Japan, and one with different colored covers for overseas. This is one of the Japanese ones, hence the intro by Toshiharu Ito, as well as the chronology of Araki's career up to that point, are in Japanese only.

Araki's entry into the series is a series of portraits of various models, both clothed and nude, all in color.

1st Edition, 1st Printing. Hardcover, with dustcover. 22cm x 21cm, 108 pages, 72 color reproductions. Published by Korinsha Press in 1998.

Condition: Very Good. Book itself is in excellent condition, with the exception of the front board showing very slight bend. Dustcover shows some rubbing, and some slight indentations which at the right angle can stand out. The spine of cover shows some sunning. Bookstore sticker on front free endpaper. Korinsha brochure and order card tipped in.

Valuation: While other entries in the series fetch higher prices -- especially the Moriyama entry -- this one seems to be going for around $85 US or so, but that is probably for the English language version.
