Uraniwa, by Haru Kimura

A self-described loner in her childhood, photographer Haru Kimura here focuses her lens on what would probably be seen by most observers as containing only the mundane and uninteresting -- her backyard -- to reveal the secrets of the everyday things of the objects she finds there.

In her 50's, Kimura only took up photography in 2008. The photos in the book were taken over a two-year period, and are lovingly assembled here by Kazuo Kitai, himself no stranger to the alchemic art of transforming prosaic objects into two-dimensional poetry.

Hardcover, 26cm x 20cm, 64 pages, 57 color and b/w photos.
