Pathography, by Rokuzo Waku

Presented in two parts, the first in black and white and the second in color, Rokuzo Waku's Pathography intertwines what are clearly familial, close to home images of family and day-to-day events like a child's sports festival or a wedding or a elderly person in a hospital bed (for the most part in the color section), together with more seemingly random and impersonal landscapes and portraits, which dominate the black and white section. But the two intersecting parts are not clearly defined, as if reflecting a struggle of Waku himself to be objective (pathology) and subjective (photography).
