The Photographer's Camera: the legendary Ricoh GR1s: Ultra Slim 135 Film Format AF Camera with High Definition GR Lens 28mm F2.8
The Ricoh GR1s, sold only in Japan, is the compact camera of choice for those professional and amateur photographers, who care about image quality, a wide range manual control, and reliable results. With its strikingly sharp GR Lens, highly versatile controls, magnesium alloy die-cast body, it has become the street standard, pocket sidekick camera to the rangefinder or SLR around your neck.
Well documented as a great camera, the Ricoh GR1s makes an excellent back-up camera when on location, a camera for stealthy street photography (particularly the street-cred black version), or an excellent full-auto Point-and-Shoot.
The manual control equipped GR1s series from Ricoh allows for aperture priority override, exposure compensation, snap focus, macro, auto-timer, slow-synched flash work, and more. It can also be left in full-auto mode, and will supply amazingly sharp and well-defined photographs – well above the quality of normal Point-and-Shoot cameras. The magnesium frame and covers make one of the smallest manual 35mm cameras made, and really light & sturdy, with the metal controls giving a tremendous feel to its otherwise routine Point-and-Shoot functions. Even just holding this sexy camera in your hands, you will easily understand why it's original price tag was over ¥100,000. It is built with the highest Japanese precision by a company that continues to raise the eyebrows of the industry. The sound of the shutter alone is enough excite any photographer. The Ricoh GR1s really is a joy to use, and a little gem of a camera.
