I Don't Sleep, by Aya Fujioka
[nemuranai]
¥5,290

In this book, published in late, 2009, Aya Fujioka -- in 2005, a Visual Arts Photo Award winner -- uses her hometown as the prevailing setting. Unlike her previous work, much of which has been shot away from Japan, these hometown scenes present a kind of everyday travel record, but one where the way is not quite as clear as perhaps a hometown should be, and where memory darkens the path more than it illuminates.

Please see our recently published conversational look at this book.

Hardcover, 36cm x 24cm, 98 pages. Published by Akaaka Art Publishing, 2009.
