Fushikaden (Signed), by Issei Suda
[fushikaden]
¥21,090

Gorgeous 2012 reworking of Issei Suda's 1979 Fushikaden, long out of print and commanding high prices for what is essentially a poorly-printed book in often fair-to-middling condition. This edition, limited to 500 copies -- each of which is signed by Suda and numbered -- has been released on the occasion of the two-part Fall 2012 exhibition of the work in Tokyo.

Fushikaden began life as a series that intermittently appeared between 1975 to 1977 in the magazine Camera Mainichi. Suda later combined those photographs with other unpublished work and published that together in the 1979 book.

This new publication is not simply a reprinting of the original, but adds in 38 photos not included in the earlier book, and Suda himself in the book's afterword considers the new book as "the complete edition".

If you're not familiar with these series of images, Higher Pictures gallery has a good introduction on their site.

Hardcover, with slipcase. 25.5cm x 26.5cm, 150 pages, 141 b/w photos. Afterword and place/year captions for each photo in both Japanese and English. Signed by the artist and numbered. Limited printing of 500 copies.

Please Note: Due to the scarcity and cost of this item, we will require EMS shipping for all orders from outside Japan that include this book.
