Megaperls is now Japan Exposures
As of 1 Nov 08 Megaperls has evolved into Japan Exposures.
After exactly four years of successful operation we thought it is time to change things a little to make it even more interesting and also to leverage the personal network we have built up over time in Japan with photographers, galleries, publishers, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and even academics working in field. The result is what you see here:
Japan Exposures – A personal introduction to Japanese photography
On the front page we produce various content related to Japanese photography, such as reviews of books, gallery shows and profiles/interviews of photographers we know, general articles and essays, but we will also feature photo products and other things such as “legends of the past” where, amongst other things, we look at the products advertised in Japanese photo magazines from 20-30 years ago and what became of them. We are also hand-picking cover photos by relatively unknown photographers with a visual language that we think may be of interest in the rest of the world but have not received the ‘exposure’ they should. For example we are currently featuring large format photographer Shintaro Sato’s Twilight Zone, Tokyo cityscapes shot from emergency staircases. There is a also a weblog with our own day to day postings about being a practicing photographer in Japan.
The web shop you may already be familiar with has been complemented with a book store.
Please be sure to read our introductory statement!
We hope that the site enables us to share some of the excitement we experience as photographers in Japan with the rest of the world and we look forward to your visit, comments and feedback!
