<description>The Communist Party was holding a demonstration in front of my station (Kita Akabane) Tuesday. They seem to be about the only party that speaks out strongly against U.S. imperialism and the Japanese involvement in Iraq. They were also railing about what the Liberal Democratic Party is doing to the national pension scheme.

The Communists were mainly middle aged and elderly locals with armbands and bullhorns. A fairly low key affair. They never win many seats, but with luck their message will spread to the Democratic party. They&#039;ve just got to work on ousting the U.S.-funded LDP.
